The Willows

A tranquil place in the central highlands of Tasmania

When choosing a breed of cattle to run on a small highland property in Tasmania, we carefully considered many, but always came back to the Miniature Herefords. Basically they are very hardy, quite to handle, do very well on minimum pasture. Hold condition well through the snowy months of winter and yes ... they are very cute.

We selected a cow in calf with a heifer calf at foot to start the herd from Misty Moos in Judbury. Since then our girls have breed with Albert the bull from Grove in Southern Tasmania and produced us some fine heifers and our bull Basil, who we are very proud of. Basil at the age of 2 years still only stand at around 1 metre at the shoulder, surely being one of the smallest mature Miniature Hereford bulls in Tasmania. He has a wonderful quite nature, good straight back and great confirmation.

Basil now loves in Lilydale with a number of his girls
